What An Irony

Some days back when most of the people were raising questions about retirement of Sachin Tendulkar from the cricket world, I was getting higly frustated thinking why someone is telling a great player like him to retire even when he still scores a lot better than most of the new fresh guys and then in all that hustle came the statement from the great player that "Mean are the cricketers who talk of retirement at the peak of the carrier and I want to give Indian cricket everything". It felt so good after his statement that wowww, there is someone who thinks for the game and for the country.

But today came the news that Sachin has been nominated for Rajya Sabha and he has given his approval too. Now that was something which hurts. He has earned all name, fame and money. Each and everyone whether its young, mid aged or old has always supported tendulkar and now when its time to give something back to the country, coaching the new guys, you want to be a minister. Ok lets say that its fine its an individual choice, but then if you are going to be a minister then you have to leave cricket or you have to leave politics. Otherwise, you will keep holding place of a youngster cricketer in the squad and at the same time will hold someones seat in the Rajya Sabha.

Cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni are brand ambassadors of Indian Navy and Indian Army. They have been awarded a very reputed post so that youngsters can be attracted towards Army and Navy and serve our Nation. But, I think very few people know that these 2 cricketers have all the time in the world to do the brand advertisements of other products but have not attended a single function in the duration of past 2 years of Army and Navy for which they are brand ambassadors. If you guys do not have time then why the hell did you accepted the award and post. I do not have any problems with sachin and dhoni playing for our nation. I always love while sachin is batting, its a delight. But I will just say that Sachin you are very nice person, do not go in politics. Else, try to make some more sachins and world class players for our team. We need you in our Indian Team and not in Rajya Sabha!!

Is Sachin the No #1 contendor for Bharat ratna

Latest Buzz going on in Cricket arena these days lays emphasis on Champion cricketer Sachin Tendulkar to be awarded with Bharat Ratna. However, should not it be the way that for the games highest civilian honor Dada Dhyan Chand should be the first candidate and number 1 contendor? Former Olympian and national selector Col Balbir Singh who wrote the book on Indian hockey's golden era said Dhyan Chand should get this award so much already. He deserves the award, first in sports. Today's generation did not saw him play , so he is not so popular as Tendulkar, but we heard with people round him that player like him are not born in the world again. He really was the Wizard of hockey. Cricket is watched and played by barely a dozen countries, the hockey the national sport of India, the global game and is therefore far more Dhyan Chand's contribution as compared to any other sportsmen. Under current rules, any player can not be given Bharat Ratna. Sur queen Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, former cricket captain Kapil Dev, Ajit Wadekar and veterans, including current captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is voicing Bharat Ratna to Tendulkar. Dhyan Chand was given the Padma Bhushan in 1956. Moscow 1980 Olympic gold medal winning member of the team Zafar said Tendulkar won the World Cup, but Dhyanchand three Olympic titles (1928 Amsterdam, 1932, Los Angeles and 1936 Berlin) pointed to the country. I am not against Tendulkar to be given this honor, but should not it be the beginning with Dhyan Chand? The 1975 World Cup in Kuala Lumpur, the architect of India's title win there Aslam Sher Khan said cricket due to record data all know how many runs or centuries cricketer hit, but due to no records data at that times, no one knows how may goals dada (Dhyan Chand), scored. Glamour, due to media attention and money to play cricket in India is the largest. To the Bharat Ratna issue, then it should be given to the player who ate dry bread and water to drink and made country proud.

Even though Dada Dhyan Chand has passed away many years ago, he is still revered in India for his sheer magic that he brought in the game of hockey. In the 1928 Amsterdam Summer Olympics, the Indian team was put in the division A table, with Austria, Belgium, Denmark and Switzerland. On May 17 the Indian national hockey team made its Olympic debut against Austria, winning 6-0, with Chand scoring 3 goals. The next day India defeated Belgium 9-0; however Chand only scored once. On May 20, Denmark lost to India 5-0, with Chand netting 3. Two days later, he scored 4 goals when India defeated Switzerland 6-0 in the semi-finals. India won the final against the home team Netherlands with 3-0. A newspaper report about India`s triumph said: This is not a game of hockey, but magic. Dhyan Chand is in fact the magician of hockey. On returning to India , the team was received by thousands of people at the Bombay harbour, compared to the 3 people who had seen them off.
The India team set sail for San Francisco on May 30, and arrived on June 6. They reached Los Angeles three weeks before the opening ceremony of the Olympics, which took place on July 30. On August 4, 1932, India played its first match against Japan and won 11-1. Chand, Roop Singh, Gurmit Singh each scored thrice, and Dickie Carr once. In the final on August 11, India played against hosts USA. India won 24-1, a world record at that time, and once again clinched the gold medal.
The 1936 Berlin Olympics final was watched by a crowd of 40,000 that included top Nazi officials like Hermann Goering, Joseph Goebbels, Joachim Ribbentrop and the Fuehrer, Adolf Hitler. When the match ended with India defeating Germany 8-1, there was complete silence over the vast stadium. Hitler was to have presented the gold medals to the Indian team, but Hitler had left earlier, in frustration and in anger. The next day, Hitler asked to see Dhyan Chand. When he received this message, Dhyan Chand became very worried. He had heard stories of how Hitler used to get people shot as he was a dictator. Dhyan Chand could not eat properly and spent a sleepless night. In the morning Dhyan Chand went to meet Hitler. The German dictator welcomed Dhyan Chand warmly in his private box and showed him his view of the stadium. Hitler asked Dhyan Chand what he did in India. Dhyan Chand replied that he was a soldier in the Indian army. Hitler offered him a high post in the German army and requested him to come and live in Germany. Dhyan Chand politely refused, saying that his family is settled in India, and it will be difficult for him to relocate to Germany. Hitler said he understood his position and ended the meeting.
Dhyan Chand is probably the first position to meet Hitler personally. There are many accounts of Dhyan Chand's famous meeting with Hitler, but this is what he had recounted to his family and close friends.
Everyone says that Tendulkar is best cricketer and far more better human being. He always says that he respects all games and respect the contribution of players for the Nation. When everyone is voicing for Bharat Ratna for Sachin, it should be his morale(as everyone says he is a guy with great morale), he himself should come up and voice for award for dada Dhyan Chand. However, he stays dumb as always. He was quite even when he was not the first to score 200 in an ODI, and now also he does the same.

IS Bangalore Lossing Its Wealth??

Once upon a time Bangalore was the city of lush greenery. Ask any Banglorean about the trees on either side of most of the roads in Bangalore, a decade ago. They would probably shed tears of blood today at the axing of numerous trees all over the city to make way for the modern infrastructure. This cosmopolitan city, was once naturally air conditioned, having pleasant weather throughout the year, basically because of its greenery and color - the city has a new color every month. The pleasant weather which gave the people a "lay back" attitude was dubbed as the city for retirees. However today it is the hub for all the activity happening in the Country. Today Bangalore is one of the most after cities in the World.

But at what cost ? People living in areas around Jayanagar, Sampige and Margosa Roads in Malleshwaram are bearing the brunt of this "murder" of large trees in the name of Infrastructure. While we do understand the importance of Infrastructure and support all the efforts of the Government, we are at the same time concerned at the axing of the trees resulting in our "Bengalooru" losing all the originality of "Garden City "

While trees are axed at one part of the City to make way for new roads, subways, Highways, Skyways, the existing trees which have still not come under the radar of the authorities are either dying a natural death for lack of care or used as Sign posts to attract business. Our freelance writer Rajesh Dangi brings to light the "near death" status of trees in Bangalore and suggests ways to save Bangalore's Green Cover.

Who care’s there are still lot many trees around!! This seems be the attitude of people and administration when you see diminishing garden city. Yes, the word ‘diminishing’ is used categorically to instate the alarming situation. A widely lush green area around Center Jail road is now no more than just a slaughter house of builders with fancy apartments.

It has become a normal sight to see trees being cut, uprooted or falling victim to termite attacks and no one seems to care about them. Large termite attacks, cutting off branches, cutting off the full grown trees on roads and public area’s, uprooting for basement constructions, and umpteenth number of advertisements nailed on the trees for PG accommodations, call taxies etc. Heart broken, I felt like an important organ of the city being amputed!!

The day will not be far when people who want to live in Bangalore will start running away from the Garden City. Help for a cause, plant trees, stop the slaughter of our environment... and lets make Bangalore a paradise to live in..

Dhoni & Men Lead INDIA Out

Well Well Well, what a sudden turn of emotional routes for Men In Blues...
Some days back our respected Indian Captian Mr. MS Dhoni went so emotional down the lane when he lifted the IPL cup. However, today with sudden turn, no outbreak of emotions and words are coming up when for 2 consecutive years Indian team got thrown out of World Cup. Players like Irfan Pathan(plays only for Shilpa Shetty, never for India), Harbhajan Singh(wanna perform and lift Neeta in excitement only for Mumbai Indians) were given preference over some key performers in IPL. And what to say for the players when our captain himself is not sure what he is doing.

Seems that the Indian Cricket downfall has started as our IPL has kept the states and money way ahead and important than our country India. All the players gave more than their 100% for IPL, if they would have given even 50% of the same we would have made to the Semis.

Instead of blaming Modi for IPL frauds, case should be filed against the players that they play for their state teams in IPL and not for country in World Cup. Seems will be better if these players are sent back to their respective Ranji state Teams and get the fresh blooming buds who wanna whole heartedly play and win it for India.

Wake up BCCI, we still have time for World Cup,get the fresh breed for representing INDIA. A humble request to all my friends and blog readers, let us support Indian team to win tournaments and not win the ads and movies.

Let us work together to win India respect we deserve!!!!!!! Probably believing in the new breed of players can help us,instead of players concerned only with their development...

Hike Indispensible

On a dark and foggy night, a small figure lay huddled on the railway
tracks leading to the Chennai station. At once I was held back to see
someone in that position during midnight with no one around. With curiosity
taking the front seat, I went near the body and tried to investigate it.
There was blood all over the body which was lying face down. It seemed that
a ruthless blow by the last train could have caused the end of this body
which seemed to be that of a guy of around my age. Amidst the gory blood
flow, I could see a folded white envelope which was fluttering in the
midnight wind. Carefully I took the blood stained envelope and was
surprised to see the phrase “appraisal letter” on it. With curiosity rising
every moment, I wasted no time in opening the envelope to see if I can find
some details about the dead guy. The tag around the body’s neck and the
jazzy appraisal cover gave me the hint that he might be a software
engineer.
I opened the envelope to find a shining paper on which the appraisal
details where typed in flying colors. Thunders broke into my ears and
lightening struck my heart when I saw the appraisal amount of the dead
guy!!!!! My God, it was not even, as much as the cost of the letter on
which the appraisal details were printed…. My heart poured out for the guy
and huge calls were heard inside my mind saying “no wonder, this guy died
such a miserable death”… As a fellow worker in the same industry, I thought
I should mourn for him for the sake of respect and stood there with a heavy
heart thinking of the shock that he would have experienced when his manager
had placed the appraisal letter in his hand. I am sure his heart would have
stopped and eyes would have gone blank for few seconds looking at the near
to nothing increment in his salary.
While I mourned for him, for a second my hands froze to see the employee’s
name in the appraisal letter…hey, what a strange co-incidence, this guy’s
name is same as mine, including the initials. This was interesting. With
some mental strength, I turned the body upside down and found myself
fainted for a second. The guy not only had my name, but also looked exactly
like me. Same looks, same built, same name…. it was me who was dead
there!!!!!!!! While I was lost in that shock, I felt someone patting on my
shoulders. My heart stopped completely, I could not breathe and sprung in
fear to see who was behind……… Splash!!! Went the glass of water on my
laptop screen as I came out of my wild dream to see my manager standing
behind my chair patting on my shoulder saying,

“Wake up man! Come to
meeting room number two. I have your appraisal letter ready”.

Is tendulkar the 1st to hit a double Ton???

In Gwalior Roop Singh Stadium the GOD of cricket Sachin was there on the pitch and he went on to score the double ton. Everyone including me is rating this knock as his best. However, is it true that Sachin is the first one to score a double ton in One day internationals.

If anyone is aware of women cricket teams then they can easily identify that the 1st double ton in one day international was hit way back in Women's World Cup 1997.
In extolling Sachin Tendulkar’s recent double hundred, many seem to have overlooked a fact. The little master isn’t the first to break the barrier in One Day Internationals (ODIs). It was Australian Belinda Clark, who notched up the first ODI double century in a World Cup match in 1997. The lady scored 29 more runs than Sachin off just eight more deliveries.

Agreed that what sachin has done, and the tower of records he is sitting on can shy down the cap any existing batsman, but being a cricketer if he himself does not know that he is not the first one to hit a double ton, so does he still remains the GOD of cricket............

Indian Cricket Team- At a Glance

No need to guess the person who when starts batting, everyone stops other activity and watches it delightfully. No need to guess the person whom the world calls "Master Blaster", who absolutely destroyed many and have set his own records those others, can only imagine of! and what he does...leave all the fans in disapointment giving his wicket as a gift at most cruicial stage of match.

History has seen Sachin's some greatest innings, however, history has also saw that when India needed him the most he showed his back. Once the opposition target reaches 300+ its bound that he will go back soon. Do you think that we need a player with most number of runs under his belt but who plays only for himself not for country because whats the use of so many runs when you cannot win a match for us at crucial time. History has seen some great batsman like Bradman, it was a dream for bowlers to get him out.. but every new bowler is getting so lucky that he takes Tendulkar's wicket without any problem...........

Yusuf Pathan-- Player who rose up from T20 cricket showing a lot of belief, however the other side of coin is that he plays only for Shilpa Shetty and Rajasthan Royals.
Whenever, India needs him he shows his back chewing a gum....

Harbhajan Singh: No doubt a legend and match winner bowler for India. But, he should know his limitations, he is a bowler. In match against pakistan, he considered his wicket more important than Rahul Dravid's wicket and got him run out as if he won a match for us....

MS Dhoni: The kind of changes he does with his hairstyle, if the same chenges he does on field, it might get better for India. He blamed bowlers for loosing match against pakistan, as if his batsman have done a wonderful job on the field.

I am just writing this so that people should support other sports where all our players are making us proud. Please support the cause, stop fake appreciation of crickets, show them the positions. Let them win the World Cup for us next year and we will praise them.... but please let them perform and then appreciate them.....

India Lifts Nehru Cup

New Delhi, Aug 31 Goalkeeper Subrata Paul shouldered India to a sensational 6-5 victory in a shootout over Syria and retain the ONGC Nehru football Cup, they won in 2007, at an overflowing Ambedkar Stadium Mnnday night.
Paul in an amazing display of reflexes and anticipation saved three spot kicks in the tie-breaker after the two teams failed to score in regulation time and scored once each in the dying minutes of extra time. Man-of-the-Match Paul, who had an outstanding tournament, blocked shots from Wael Ayan, Ahmad Haj Muhmad and Hamzeh Alattouni. Already we have news regarding the same, however, I would like to put my point which i feel below. This is just another in series for my last blog for Marry Kom Boxer...

Its very good that our dying football in India has started coming up as we have also qualified to play in Asia Championship. However, there was no hype in the media regarding the same. Rather the news channels were showing news that cricketer Harbhajan Singh fined for INR 3000 for driving his Hummer without number plate.
Our cricketers even if they eat something comes in limelight, but our other sportsmen still struggle after playing for India....

Is everyone still see only cricket as our sport. Wake Up guys, support other upcoming sports. Only sports like football, badminton, boxing etc.. can win as an Olympic Medal not cricket.
Atleast, I will only support Indian cricket team now if they win us a World Cup. Are you guys with me.

Tulsi can help keep swine flu away: Ayurvedic experts

Wonder herb Tulsi can not only keep the dreaded swine flu at bay but also help in fast recovery of an afflicted person, Ayurvedic practitioners claim.

The anti-flu property of Tulsi has been discovered by medical experts across the world quite recently.. Tulsi improves the body's overall defence mechanism including its ability to fight viral diseases. It was successfully used in combating Japanese Encephalitis and the same theory applies to swine flu," Dr U K Tiwari, a herbal medicine practitioner says .

Apart from acting as a preventive medicine in case of swine flu, Tulsi can help the patient recover faster.

"Even when a person has already contracted swine flu, Tulsi can help in speeding up the recovery process and also help in strengthening the immune system of the body," he claims.

Dr Bhupesh Patel, a lecturer at Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar is also of the view that Tulsi can play an important role in controlling swine flu.

"Tulsi can control swine flu and it should be taken in fresh form. Juice or paste of at least 20-25 medium sized leaves should be consumed twice a day on an empty stomach."

This increases the resistance of the body and, thereby, reduces the chances of inviting swine flu," says Patel.
Please share this valuable information with your friends.

Indian natural herb Tulsi to fight back swine flu

Ayurveda, the traditional 'science of life', has a remedy for diseases when every other stream of medicine fails. Now, at a time when swine flu is spreading like wildfire across the world, Ayurveda has the remedy in the form of the miraculous herb, the basil leaves commonly known as Tulsi.

Tulsi, the purest and most sublime plant, has been known and worshipped in India for more than five millennia for its remarkable healing properties. Considered as an 'Elixir of Life', this wonder herb has now been claimed to keep the deadly swine flu at bay and help fast recovery in afflicted persons.

"The anti-flu property of Tulsi has been discovered by medical experts across the world quite recently. Tulsi improves the body's overall defence mechanism including its ability to fight viral diseases. It was successfully used in combating Japanese Encephalitis and the same theory applies to swine flu," Dr U K Tiwari, a herbal medicine practitioner says.

Juice or paste of at least 20-25 medium sized leaves should be consumed twice a day on an empty stomach." This increases the resistance of the body and, thereby, reduces the chances of inviting swine flu," believes Patel.

As its name suggests, Tulsi has again proved to be the 'the incomparable' medicine - this time, in the prevention and cure of swine flu.

The symptoms of the H1N1 flu virus in people are similar to the symptoms of seasonal flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. A significant number of people who have been infected with novel H1N1 flu virus also have reported diarrhea and vomiting. The high risk groups for novel H1N1 flu are not known at this time, but it's possible that they may be the same as for seasonal influenza. However, Please consult a practitioner in case of any such symptoms. Doctors have strictly advised against self medication.

MC Marry Kom to get Khel Ratna

Hello,

I think most of you all will be aware of Marry Kom our boxer from India. She hold the honour of bagging 4 World Championship Titles for India. Still she was not nominated for prestigiuos Kehl Ratna award till now. It was a long wait but she never left hope and finally I guess the news would have overjoyed her.

But my only question is That when a century or a 5 wicket haul in a match can make a cricketer nominated for this prestigious award, why it took for Marry so many years and 4 World championships to get nominated which she would have got long back...

Is it because being a lady or is it because belonging to a game which is not very popular here......
Does it makes sense to award some cricketers for their performance in a series and making the lady wait for the same to get 4 championships..........
PLease give it a thought and raise voice upon it. I know the other sports are not very popular, but atleast those are lacking behind coz of lack of funds, nd they are not loosing coz only they are getting heavily paid to loose like our cricketers. Please respect our roots and you will see that the tree will be fruitful....

Indian Hindi Comics

In the year 1986, a comics company was started by Rajkumar Gupta. He named it Raj Comics. His sons Sanjay Gupta, Manish Gupta and Manoj Gupta became the next mentors of Raj Comics. Currently, Manish Gupta is the president, Sanjay Gupta is the editor/creative head and Manoj Gupta is in the Finance Department.

The company mainly focuses on superhero-centric comic books. The majority of their output is in the Hindi language, but a few titles and 'special editions' have been translated into English. It has produced close to 3500 comics till date.

Raja Pocket Books started publishing Raj comics and King Comics simultaneously. King comics lasted for about 2 years. After that, some heroes of King comics like Gamraj were merged in Raj comics. Not to be confused, Raj comics and King comics were two divisions of Raja Pocket Books. They used to publish comics using the same artists and writers in both the comic series. In the last few years its popularity has come down immensely due to lack of promotion, availability and storyline.

These comics are one of the best entertainments available in our childhood days and thats the reason i feel that many of us are way from dirt of politics and crap TV shows coming these days which in a way are destroying future of India. So, I will only say that support me and other brothers and save the comics industry.

I am posting some links for latest release sets of Raj comics in 2009. Apart from this I have 2 GB of comics which I will be posting soon. Some of these links are uploaded by our brothers in attempt to spread a word about comics industry..........

Why go towards Superman, He Man and Spiderman when we have Nagraj, Bhokal, Super Commando Dhruv etc...

Support us saving the Indian comics industry and give ur contribution in making future of india...........

Some Download Links for requested comics..

MIchael Jackson MoonWalks to Heaven

Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958– June 25, 2009) was an American recording artist, entertainer and businessman. The seventh child of the Jackson family, he made his debut on the professional music scene in 1968 as a member of The Jackson 5. He then began a
solo career in 1971 while still a member of the group and was referred to as the "King of Pop"[1] in subsequent years.
Jackson's 1982 album Thriller remains the world's best-selling album of all time, and four of his other solo studio albums are among the world's best-selling records: Off the Wall
(1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995).
In the early 1980s, he became a dominant figure in popular music and the first African American entertainer to mass a
strong crossover following on MTV. The popularity of his music videos airing on MTV, such as "Beat It", "Billie Jean"
and "Thriller"—widely credited with transforming the music video from a promotional tool into an art form—helped bring the relatively new channel to fame. Videos such as "Black or White"
and "Scream" made Jackson an enduring staple on MTV in the 1990s. With stage performances and music videos, Jackson popularized a number of physically complicated dance techniques, such as
the robot and the moonwalk. His distinctive musical sound and vocal
style influenced many hip hop, pop and contemporary R&B artists across several generations. Jackson donated and raised millions of
dollars for beneficial causes through his foundations, charity singles, and support of 39 charities.
One of the few artists to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, his other achievements include multiple Guinness World Records—including one for :

"Most Successful Entertainer of All Time"—13

Grammy Awards, 13 number one singles in

his solo career, and the sale of 750

million records worldwide.
At the time of his death, he was preparing for This Is It, a series of 50 concerts that would have been held in London beginning
July 13, 2009.

Jackson, the sensationally gifted child star who rose to become the “King of Pop” and the biggest celebrity in the world only to fall from his throne in a freakish series of scandals, died Thursday. He was 50.

Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. Ed Winter, the assistant chief coroner for Los Angeles County, confirmed his office had been notified of the death and would handle the investigation.

The circumstances of Jackson’s death were not immediately clear. Jackson was not breathing when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to a call at his Los Angeles home about 12:30 p.m., Capt.

May the king of PoP's soul rest in peace and despite anything his songs will keep on making us rock time to time, but this time with some warm emotions mixed with them.........

Munshi PremChand

Some days back I was getting bored and wanted to read something good and remembered that sometime back my father presented me with 2 books “Nirmala” and “Prema”. I started reading them and suddenly was lost in 18th century India and finally when I came back to 21st century again, I realized its 8’0 in night and I started at 12 in afternoon. The reason for this was:
The writer of many famous novels and one of the leaders in Hindi Literature Premchand. He was born on July 31, 1880 in the village Lamhi near Varanasi to Munshi Ajaib Lal, a clerk in the post office, and his wife Anandi. His parents named him Dhanpat Rai (master of wealth) while his uncle, Mahabir, a rich landowner, called him Nawab (Prince), the name Premchand first chose to write under. Premchand's parents died young - his mother when he was seven and his father while he was sixteen or seventeen and still a student. Premchand was left responsible for his stepmother and step-siblings.
In 1899, Premchand left Lamahi to take up the position of a schoolmaster at a mission school in the town of Chunar at a salary of eighteen rupees a month, with which he had to support his wife, his stepmother, his half-brother, his stepmother's younger brother and himself. Times were hard for the young man and they became harder still when he was fired from the job for being 'too independent'. He returned to Lamahi and soon got a job as an assistant master at a government school in Benaras, only to be transferred two months later to Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh a town near Allahabad where he first started writing seriously. He wrote over 300 stories, a dozen novels and two plays. The stories have been compiled and published as Maansarovar. Premchand lived a life of financial struggle. Once he took a loan of two-and-a-half rupees to buy some clothes. He had to struggle for three years to pay it back.
The main characteristic of Premchand's writings is his interesting story-telling and use of simple language. His novels describe the problems of the rural peasant classes. He avoided the use of highly Sanskritized Hindi (as was the common practice among Hindi writers), but rather he used the dialect of the common people. many of Premchand's stories were influenced by his own experiences with poverty and misery. His stories represented the ordinary Indian people as they were, without any embellishments. Unlike many other contemporary writers, his works didn't have any "hero" or "Mr. Nice" - they described people as they were. Premchand was a contemporary of some other literary giants of that era like Acharya Ram Chandra Shukla and Jaishankar Prasad.
Premchand has written about 300 short stories, several novels as well as many essays and letters. He has also written some plays. He also did some translations. Many of Premchand's stories have been translated into English and Russian. Godaan (The Gift of a Cow), his last novel, is considered the finest Hindi novel of all times.[4] The protagonist, Hori, a poor peasant, desperately longs for a cow, a symbol of wealth and prestige in rural India. Hori gets a cow but pays with his life for it. After his death, the village priests demand a cow from his widow to bring his soul to peace. In Kafan (Shroud), a poor man collects money for the funeral rites of his dead wife, but spends it on food and drink.
These two novels I read have lighted a new light to read all his literatures when I get time and I believe that his stories can definitely lead people to a much more stronger, decent world full of love to live in………………….
